BokoHaram Kill 7 In Maiduguri, Injure 11

Suspected Boko Haram terrorists exploded three explosives in Maiduguri on Tuesday, killing at least seven people and injuring 11, the army said in a statement, as violence spreads in Northeast Nigeria.

Colonel Sani Kukasheka Usman, Nigeria’s army spokesman, was quoted as saying that further down south, soldiers in Okene town, Kogi State, repelled an attack by suspected terrorists on Wednesday morning. But a soldier was killed while another sustained injuries.

Usman said Nigerian troops killed two of the insurgents, seized a rocket-propelled grenade and empty cases of expended ammunition.

“The situation has been brought under control and people have been asked to go about their normal businesses in the town,” he said.

Attacks have spread in recent times with the terrorists killing both civilians and soldiers in Nigeria, Cameroon and Chad.

Last week, at least ten Nigerian soldiers were killed while bomb blasts killed at least 11 people this week in Cameroon’s far north region.

Boko Haram has killed at least 1600 people since President Muhammadu Buhari was sworn into office in May promising to crush the “mindless, godless” militants.

The Islamic State’s West Africa Province as the terrorist refer to themselves since pledging allegiance to IS in March recently killed at least 18 people in the Nigerian capital Abuja.
